Several injured after blast hits vicinity of south Lebanon village: Report
An explosion has reportedly rocked the outskirts of the southern Lebanese village of Ain Qana, causing injuries among several people.
The blast that took place on Tuesday was clearly felt in the village and sent a huge column of black smoke into the air, Reuters reported.
Footage broadcast by the country's Al-Jadeed television showed men walking over scorched ground littered with debris, as well as at least one fire that was still burning.
The news agency cited an alleged security source as associating the site of the blast with Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement. The group, however, has not yet released any comments on the incident.
The incident came as the country is still reeling from an unprecedented explosion that hit the capital Beirut's port in early August.
At least 190 people were killed and thousands others injured in the explosion that saw 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate going up in smoke at the port as the country was already dealing with an economic crisis.
France's President Emanuel Macron has visited the country twice since the disaster, issuing a deadline for the authorities to implement "reforms" in the country.
Hezbollah urged countrywide calm and integrity after the catastrophe, warning about attempts at hijacking the incident's aftermath by domestic or foreign parties for political gains.
