Top Aide to Iran's leader: 'Bahrain-Israel ties strategic folly'

Treason and a strategic folly; this is how an advisor to Iran’s leader on international affairs, has described Bahrain's normalization of ties with Israel.

On Friday, Bahrain became the second Arab country after the UAE to normalize its relations with Israel. At his Monday's press conference in Tehran, Ali Akbar Velayati censured the Arab states for their move, calling it a stabbing in the back of Palestinians.

The two Arab states' alignment with Israel do not represent a seismic shift in regional power equations, as they are merely publicizing their pre-existing covert ties. However, Velayati made it clear; Iran will not allow any intervention by Israel in regional equations.

Manama and Abu Dhabi's normalization of ties with Tel Aviv was brokered by the US, with a prospect of broader relations between the Arab world and Israel.
