Macron's intentions in Lebanon

Lebanon has experienced a catastrophe perhaps like never before. The country was already reeling in an economic crisis.

The economic figures are staggering. A 40% poverty rate and a currency that was devaluing sharply by the day. The blast that had destroyed half of the capital Beirut was sure to push Lebanon into the abyss. Add to that, the young govt. who was struggling to gain the public's trust, and the Covid-9 pandemic: many would conclude that Lebanon was now a lost cause.
