A car has plowed into a group of people in an apparent accident in the German capital city of Berlin.

The incident occurred at the Bahnhof Zoo train station in Berlin on Sunday when a 24-year-old “driving a car… lost control turning left at the intersection because he was speeding,” Berlin police spokesman Martin Halweg said.

Seven people were injured, “three seriously and four slightly,” according to Halweg.

There was no immediate indication of any political or other motive.

One person was reportedly trapped underneath the car, a Mercedes, in the incident, and around 55 firefighters were deployed to the scene.

Berlin fire service spokesman Dennis Passlack said that person “had to be… resuscitated by the fire service before being taken to the hospital along with the other six injured people.”

In December 2016, a 23-year-old Pakistani asylum seeker crashed a truck into a crowded Christmas market in Berlin, killing at least 12 people and wounding dozens of others. German Chancellor Angela Merkel described that incident as a terrorist attack.
