F1: Mercedes finish 1-2 in Austrian GP free practice
Formula One is back on track with the season opening Austrian Grand Prix, and Mercedes has finished 1- 2 in both free practice sessions.
6 time World Champion Lewis Hamilton set a best time of 1 minute and 4.304 seconds after also going fastest in the opening practice session. Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who was 2nd in the morning session, was 0.197 seconds behind. Racing point were 3rd fastest with Sergio Perez of Mexico.
Sunday's race at the Red Bull Ring is the first of two in Austria on successive weekends. It is the opening race of the season after the coronavirus crisis forced a re-scheduling of the calendar.
