People from commercial circles in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) condemned the United States' interference and threats in Hong Kong affairs, saying they are purely hegemonic acts.

The national security legislation in Hong Kong is an important measure to uphold and improve the enforcement mechanism to implement the "one country, two systems" principle. Business people expressed support for the legislation for HKSAR to safeguard national security and its implementation in their interviews with the China Central Television (CCTV) on Sunday.

"On behalf of more than 800,000 members of the Federation of Hong Kong Guangdong Community Organizations, I strongly condemn the hegemonic acts of the United States. The central government's decisive action and enactment of national security law in Hong Kong is to help Hong Kong get out of chaos and predicament. (We) firmly support the legislation, hoping the national security law in Hong Kong could come out as soon as possible," said Kung Chun-lung, chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Guangdong Community Organizations.

"External forces are actually splitting the sovereignty of (our) country in the name of 'democracy' and 'human rights'. We look forward to the early enactment of the national security law. We support it and we are very grateful to the country for taking the action at a critical moment to restore peace in Hong Kong," said Lam Lung-on, president of Hong Kong Chinese Importers' and Exporters' Association.
