Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain have been crowned champions of France despite the remainder of the season being stopped early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The French top-flight season was called to a halt on Tuesday. After a meeting on Thursday, the governing body of Football Leagues in the country confirmed that the Parisians, who are 12 points clear at the summit, have been handed the title on the basis of points per game.

The decision means PSG have won their third consecutive league trophy, and ninth in their history.

Olympique Marseille and Rennais will join PSG in securing Champions League qualification spots. That is while, at the other end of the table, Toulouse and Amiens drop down, while Lorient and Lens are promoted.
