The so-called 'Deal of the Century' is not going down well in the European Union. A spokesperson for the 27-nation bloc's foreign office has told us that if implemented the Middle East plan would certainly contravene international law.

Last week in Washington US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed their plan, dubbed the 'Deal of the Century', would solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but it appeared almost everyone else in the world recognised it is completely biased in favour of Tel Aviv. We've been getting the views of citizens here in the EU's de facto capital, Brussels.

For years now many lawmakers and rights groups have been lobbing the EU to take firm action against Israel over its appalling treatment of Palestinians. For example, by suspending EU-Israel trade ties which are worth more than 36 billion euro annually.

But analysts say the EU will not take action against Israel, at least in the short-term, over concerns any such action could provoke Donald Trump. Instead, sources here tell us, the EU is simply waiting and hoping Trump will not be re-elected at the end of this year.
