Those at the top in US never charged with their crimes while in office: Analyst

Myles Hoenig

American political analyst Myles Hoenig says top US officials are never charged if they commit crimes “while in office.”

Hoenig, who ran for Congress in 2016 as a Green Party candidate, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday when asked about a group of protesters who rallied in Wildwood, New Jersey, chanting slogans against President Donald Trump.

Some 150 people were gathering in Wildwood on Tuesday hours before Trump was to hold a “Keep America Great” rally at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Some protesters were chanting “Love, not hate, makes America great,” while others shouted “Lock him up.”

The anti-Trump protest comes as the president is currently facing an impeachment trial over charges of abusing power and obstruction of Congress.

Democrats in the US House of Representatives opened an impeachment inquiry in late September after a whistleblower complaint filed to Congress claimed that Trump had pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a July 25 phone call to investigate Biden, and his son, Hunter, who had business interests in Ukraine.

“Tables can turn on a dime in Washington, and often it’s not a result of reflective thinking but sheer hypocrisy. Democrats always pretended to be the anti-war party yet since 2016 have been foaming at the mouth about Ronald Reagan’s evil empire, Russia. They always pretend to be a friend of labor yet the establishment now is standing behind Biden. The environmentalists flocked to Democratic candidates until Obama and Hillary Clinton came along and pushed fracking all over the world, not just here in the US. The Republicans are not as hypocritical. They remain, alongside the Democrats, the party of Wall Street, are xenophobic, racist, misogynistic, and anti-worker. That hasn’t changed,” Hoenig said.

He went on to say that “Trump will also never be indicted by a federal court if it’s in Democratic hands after the election.”

“The Democrats are far too squeamish about taking on someone who will likely still maintain a Svengali influence over 30-40 percent of the population. That’s probably why Hillary Clinton has not been indicted under Trump, too, as his Justice Department, is well aware of the blowback it would cause.”

“And we see all the time that those at the top never are charged with their criminal activities while in office,” he added.

“In the US, those at the top move on to book deals, speaking engagements, and a life of luxury, regardless of how heinous of crimes they’ve committed.”
