French driver Mathieu Serradori has won Stage 8 of the 2020 Dakar Rally amid a low-key showing for the marathon's leading contenders.

Serradori claimed a 1st-ever stage win for himself after clocking 3 hours 48 minutes and 23 seconds in the 474 Km loop.

Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso finished 2nd which his best record in the Dakar Rally.

That’s while the other top drivers had poor performances in this stage as 13-time Dakar Rally champion Stephane Peterhansel finished 9th while defending champion Nasser Al-Attiyah and tournament leader Carlos Sainz finished 11th and 15th respectively.

In the general classifications, Sainz stays at the top with 6 minutes and 40 seconds, ahead of Al-Attiyah and Peterhansel.
