India's citizenship law

India, the world’s largest democracy, and home to over 1.3 Billion people, from at least nine major religions, across a country saturated in culture, tradition and outstanding natural beauty.

However, recently, the Indian government passed a Citizen Amendment Bill, one that was designed to allow minority groups from Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Pakistan to no longer be persecuted as illegal immigrants based on this act. The requirement to gain permanent citizenship will also be reduced from 11 to 5 years.
