With the Afghan presidential election only days away, the race between candidates is at its height. Over a dozen candidates are running for president, but the main competition is between President Ashraf Ghani and his arch-rival, government’s Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah.

"The State Builder" is campaigning for Ghani. The president has promised to put an end to the dependency of Afghanistan’s armed forces on foreign support.

Ghani’s main rival, Abdullah Abdullah, leads the "Stability and Convergence" team.

He puts peace in the country at the top of his agenda.

As the election is getting close, many Afghan people as well as local and international bodies have stressed on the importance of holding a transparent, free and fair election.

As a response, the Independent Electoral Commission of Afghanistan says the body is ready to hold the upcoming presidential election despite issues like rising security threats and such as technical problems, which have already delayed the vote.
