Pompeo’s malign intent toward Iran

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

By Stephen Lendman

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is an Iranophobic war-mongering extremist, a serial liar “diplomat” in name only, a notion he abhors — demanding the world community subservience to US interests, preemptive wars his favored strategy.

Virtually all his remarks about Iran are bald-faced Big Lies. So was saying the Trump regime’s Middle East mission is “creat(ing) stability” — ignoring endless US regional wars of aggression, falsely blaming Iran for things it had nothing to do with.

Longstanding bipartisan US policy calls for transforming the Islamic Republic into a vassal state, along with gaining control over its vast oil and gas reserves.

Interviewed by Bloomberg News on Thursday, Pompeo ludicrously said he’s willing to go to Tehran — where he’s reviled and not wanted.

Iranian officials will only engage with Trump regime hardliners if they end their war on the country by other means, rescinding their illegal sanctions, returning to JCPOA compliance as international law demands.

Otherwise it’s a waste of time, likely anyway as the US can never be trusted, time and again breaching promises made — notably by Obama.

Straightaway after the JCPOA took effect in January 2016, his regime imposed illegal sanctions on Iran — based on Big Lies.

It waged war on the country by other means throughout his tenure — mostly pre-JCPOA.

Hostile actions included cyber attacks, other sabotage, targeted assassinations, deadly explosions, sophisticated satellite, drone, and other type spying, bogus accusations, hostile saber rattling, multiple rounds of illegal sanctions, an oil embargo and disconnect of Iran from the SWIFT financial transactions system, both later lifted.

From 2009 to 2015, the Obama regime attempted to cripple Iran’s central bank and oil industry, mostly halted post-JCPOA until Trump exceeded his predecessor’s harshness.

Pompeo laughably said he’s eager to address Iranians on television from Tehran, calling his propaganda rage against the country truth-telling.

The Trump regime has been at war with nonbelligerent Iran throughout its tenure, especially since illegally abandoning the JCPOA, reasons given fabricated to unjustifiably justify the hostile action, opposed by the world community.

The self-styled master of the universe does what it pleases with impunity, international laws for others to obey, operating by its own standard, at war on humanity for unchallenged global dominance.

On Wednesday, Iran reportedly test-fired an intermediate-range ballistic missile, traveling around 1,000 km, an unnamed US official saying:

“While the Shabaab-3 missile did not pose a threat to shipping or US bases, the intelligence assessment is it’s part of Iran’s efforts to improve the range and accuracy.”

Iran’s ballistic missile and other weapons programs fully comply with international laws, norms and standards — flagrantly breached by the US and Israel, developing and using banned terror weapons in all their wars of aggression.

Separately, a Wednesday Wall Street Journal report discussed a Trump regime propaganda campaign aimed the Iranian public, saying:

It’s “trying to win over (Iranians by) blaming the country’s economic hardship on its leaders and discrediting those who oppose the White House’s policies.”

The US uses this strategy against all its adversaries despite its consistent failure to win over hearts and minds in targeted countries.

Iran’s UN mission spokesman Alireza Miryousefi explained that the US waged propaganda war on the Islamic Republic since its 1979 revolution, accomplishing nothing, adding:

“Certainly the evidence is clear. While the Iranian people are suffering under the economic terrorism imposed on them, they are in a large majority laying the blame squarely at the feet of the Trump” regime.

His hostile tweets harden their views. Analyst Karim Sadjadpour called them “totally incoherent, ranging from pleas (for) dialogue to threats of military attack” — angering Iranians, showing he knows nothing about the country,  its history, or public sentiment.

US hostility toward Iran and other sovereign independent countries makes more enemies than friends.

America is a nation in decline. It’s been this way long before Trump arrived in Washington. His global war on humanity accelerated things.

Will its eventual collapse producer a military dictatorship or its civilian equivalent?

It’s already well advanced toward totalitarian rule, a police state masquerading as democratic.

Is full-blown tyranny and ruin on the way? Disturbing post-9/11 evidence suggests it’s coming.
