US President Donald Trump has predicted that he will face former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders in the 2020 presidential election as the Democratic field is "fading fast."

Trump branded his chief Democratic rival "SleepyCreepy" Biden in a tweet on Friday and described the 2020 nominations race as a battle between the former vice president and "Crazy Bernie" Sanders.

“Looks to me like it’s going to be SleepyCreepy Joe over Crazy Bernie. Everyone else is fading fast!” Trump tweeted, referring to the crowded field of 21 candidates, including seven US senators, four current and former congressmen and two governors.

Trump has previously referred to the former vice president as “Sleepy Joe,” but this time he took a swipe at Biden for his unwanted touching after eight women publicly accused Biden of touching without their permission.

Over the years, Biden has been criticized as a tactile politician for invading personal space and making women feel uncomfortable but he insists he has never intentionally engaged in inappropriate behavior.

Trump himself has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least 23 women since the 1970s. He has dismissed any wrongdoing.

Citing the economy, the US president said last month that he was confident in facing either Sanders, an independent senator from Vermont, or Biden in the next presidential election.

“I look forward to facing whoever it may be. May God Rest Their Soul!” he tweeted.

Biden enjoys a strong lead in Democratic polls and Sanders for months has been number two in the running.
