Trump's 'deal of century completely a farce': Analyst

A US-proposed “deal of century” for the so-called peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians is a plot to decide on the fate of the Palestinian people without consulting them, says a commentator.

“The Palestinians, who are most impacted, have not been consulted on it,” author, activist, and journalist Robert Fantina told Press TV on Sunday, stressing that “the deal of century is completely a farce".

“It is [US President] Donald Trump and [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu simply deciding the fate of millions of people they don’t care about,” the analyst noted.

Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas political bureau, said in Gaza City on Saturday that Palestinians will never agree to Trump’s controversial proposal for peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Richard Silverstein, a journalist and political commentator, said the deal does not include a Palestinian state for the Palestinians and that makes it disqualified.

“They are not proposing anything that is even remotely acceptable to the Palestinians,” Silverstein added.

The plan formulated by Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner will reportedly fall short of ensuring a sovereign Palestinian state.

Palestinians want the West Bank as part of a future independent state with East Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital.
