Iran among few states backing Yemeni people: Pundit

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been among a few countries that have supported the impoverished Yemeni nation in the face of Saudi Arabia’s military aggression, say a commentator.

On Thursday, Tehran hosted the International Conference on Supporting the Oppressed and Resistant Yemenis in order to highlight the sufferings of the Yemeni nation caused by a lethal Saudi-led war, which was launched in March 2015.

Hussein al-Bukhaiti, a political commentator, told Press TV on Thursday that “this (the event) is good … because Iran is one of the few countries that have actually tried to support Yemen from the beginning of this war by sending humanitarian ships.”

The analyst also referred to the positive role that the Iranian media have played to spread awareness throughout the world about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

“There is a great support from Iran’s media to expose the Saudi war crimes against Yemen,” he added.

Al-Bukhaiti also praised the conference in Tehran as a good gesture by the Iranian media “to help Yemeni civilians, to help Yemen, and to help the Yemeni resistance against this aggression.”
