French carmakers put forward their vision of the future of driving at the Paris Motor Show on October 3 with two new high-tech concept cars.

Peugeot unveiled the E-Legend, a Level 4 autonomous electric vehicle inspired by the PEUGEOT 504 Coupe, which hit the road exactly 50 years ago.

The concept car, with its retro-futuristic looks offers both the pleasure to drive but also turns into an autonomous car. The level 4 aspect allows the driver to take a nap without having to worry about security in a geofenced area. The next level, level 5, never requires any involvement by the driver. The E-Legend promises to be one of the main attractions at the Paris Car Show.

French carmaker Renault also displayed a totally different vision of the future with a series of three concept vehicles. The latest is the EZ-ULTIMO, described as a luxury robot taxi able to drive on a level 5 automation, allowing designers to rethink the car without a wheel and a driver's seat.

Renault's EZ-ULTIMO has two other sister concepts, which include the EZ-GO, another autonomous but less luxurious vehicle, and the EZ-PRO, an autonomous delivery vehicle.
