12-year-old Mexican child prodigy set for university

A 12-year-old boy has been admitted to Mexico City's acclaimed National AutonomousUniversity (UNAM), making him the youngest-ever degree-level student at UNAM.

Carlos Santamaria Diaz was accepted into the Science Faculty for a Bachelors in Biomedical Physics and is due to start next week.

Santamaria first came to the attention of UNAM when he was just nine years old, having already completed a diploma in biochemistry and molecular biology at UNAM.
