Iran suffers loss against Spain in 2018 Men's Beach Handball World Championships

The Iran men's national beach handball team has sustained a defeat in its opening match at the main round of the 2018 Men's Beach Handball World Championships in Russia.

The Iranian outfit, which had lost to Croatia 0-2 (22-23 and 17-22) in its last group stage fixture the previous day, could not triumph over the Spanish side at Beach Sports Complex in the western Russian city of Kazan on Thursday morning and conceded a 0-2 (16-22 and 6-15) loss.

The Iran men's national beach handball team is scheduled to face Vietnam in its second main round match later in the day.

The 2018 Men's Beach Handball World Championships started on July 24, and will close on July 29, 2018.

Iran is pitted against Croatia, Hungary, Spain, Uruguay and Vietnam in Group I of the main round.

Group II consists of Brazil, Denmark, Oman, Qatar, Russia and Sweden.
