Iran defeats Uruguay 2-1 in 2018 Men's Beach Handball World Championships

The Iran men's national beach handball team has edged past Uruguay in its second fixture at the preliminary round of the 2018 Men's Beach Handball World Championships in Russia.

On Monday, the Iranians managed to defeat their South American counterparts 2-1 (15-16, 15-14 and 6-5) in a Group A match played at Beach Sports Complex in the western Russian city of Kazan.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian beach handball players had narrowly lost to the Argentine outfit 1-2 (13-10, 8-12 and 4-6) in their opening match.

The 2018 Men's Beach Handball World Championships started on July 24, and will close on July 29, 2018.

Iran is pitted against Argentina, Croatia and Uruguay in Group A.

Group B consists of Hungary, New Zealand, Spain and Vietnam.

Australia, Denmark, Oman and Qatar are drawn in Group C.

Brazil, Russia, Sweden and the United States shape Group D.

The Iranian men's national beach handball team is scheduled to take on Croatia in its last preliminary round match on Wednesday.
