One month after parliamentary elections in Iraq, discussions over government formation have stalled as the results themselves have been called into question. While the country is on the verge of a political crisis, Moqtada al-Sadr and Hadi al-Amiri, who won first and second places respectively in the elections, are going to combine forces. The alliance is an attempt to bring some temporary stability to the country. Experts believe what's needed is a grand coalition of all the major and minor parties so that Iraq would not descend into a sectarian crisis.

Trump-Kim Summit

The meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un was indeed a historic moment. To the world, it revived hopes to end a nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula. A crisis that only a few months ago was on the verge of blowing up into a war. But it was a relief to the world to see that both leaders agreed to meet to discuss denuclearization. At the end of their meeting, both offered lofty promises, with Trump pledging to handle a very dangerous problem and Kim forecasting a major change for the world.
