Iranian hoopsters slump to Australia in FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2018

The Iran men’s national 3x3 basketball team has suffered its first loss at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 Asia Cup 2018, going down to the Australian side.

The Iranian outfit, comprised of Hamed Hosseinzadeh, Mohammad Jamshidi, Masoud Soleymani and Mohammad Torabi, was beaten 7-21 by the Aussies at the Nanshan Cultural & Sports Center in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian sportsmen had defeated Indonesia 21-12 in their opening meet.

Iranian basketball players moved past Guam squad 22-15 in their opening fixture of the tournament on Friday.

The Iranian basketball players are scheduled to play against Hong Kong and Samoa on Sunday.

The FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2018 kicked off on April 27 and will run through May 1.

The 3x3 (pronounced three on three) basketball is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop.

The basketball discipline is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, and the highest tournament for national 3x3 teams is the FIBA 3x3 World Championships.
