Iran 3x3 basketball team climbs to 22nd place in world rankings

The Iranian women’s national 3x3 basketball team has moved up in the latest edition of Fédération internationale de basket-ball (FIBA) rankings to land in the 22nd spot in the world and claim the fifth spot in Asia.

According to the latest monthly rankings released by the FIBA, which is the association that governs international competitionx in basketball, the Iranian squad tallied 1,100,468 points.

China is the best Asian squad, and sits in the sixth place in world rankings with 3,128,350 points.

It is followed by the Japanese and Kazakh outfits, which have occupied the 14th and 17th spots respectively with 1,708,590 and 1,629,771 points.

Hungary is the top-ranked women’s national 3x3 basketball team in the world, with 4,125,660 points.

Russia earned 3,716,895 points to claim the second position, while third-place Czech Republic accumulated 3,694,240 points.

Venezuela stood fourth in the world rankings with 3,643,310 points.

The 3x3 (pronounced three on three) basketball is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop.

The basketball discipline is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, and the highest tournament for national 3x3 teams is the FIBA 3x3 World Championships.
