Conway lashes out at CNN over question about her husband’s tweets

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway defended her husband's tweeting that is critical of her boss, President Donald Trump, saying it is a "double standard" for CNN to ask about her husband's tweets.

Conway insisted on CNN Sunday that her husband "writes a lot of things that are also supportive" of Trump, before lashing out at the network over the question.

Since last year, George Conway, a prominent attorney whom Trump considered nominating for solicitor general, has been posting and retweeting tweets that have been critical of the president.

Asked about her husband's social media activities, Conway told CNN's Dana Bash that, "We're now going to talk about other people's spouses and significant others just because they either work at the White House or CNN? Are we going to do that? You just went there."

"It's fascinating to me that CNN would go there, but it's very good for the whole world to have just witnessed ... that it's now fair game how people's spouses and significant others may differ with them," Conway told Bash.

Bash defended the question, saying she would have still asked Conway the question if she were a man.

"I would ask you that if you were a man and your wife ... a thousand percent I would," Bash said. "It's not about that. It's about questioning -- publicly questioning what you are doing for a living and with regard to your boss."

"There are other family members of people who work at the White House who certainly don't support the President privately and publicly," Conway responded.

Conway's husband, conservative attorney George Conway, deleted a handful of tweets from his account last month that were critical of Trump.
