Iran knows fate at 2018 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships

The Iranian men's national wheelchair basketball team has been drawn in Group A of the 2018 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Wheelchair Basketball World Championship, which will take place later this year in Germany.

During the draw ceremony in the northern German city of Hamburg on Monday, the Iranian outfit was put in Group A of the preliminary round of the sports event, and joined squads from Canada, Germany and Morocco.

Great Britain, Poland, South Korea and the United States form Group B in the forthcoming tournament.

Group C consists of Brazil, Italy, Japan and Turkey.

Argentina, Australia, the Netherlands and Spain are drawn in Group D.

The 2018 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Wheelchair Basketball World Championship will begin on August 16 at the Wilhelmsburger Inselparkarena in Hamburg, Germany, and will finish on August 26, 2018.

Sixteen men’s teams and 12 women’s teams will compete for the title of world champions.

The current world title holders are the Australian men’s team, which placed first at the 2014 Men’s World Championship in Incheon, South Korea, and the Canadian women’s team, which claimed the title on home soil in Toronto when Canada hosted the 2014 Women’s World Championship.
