Catalans in Belgium cast early votes in parliamentary election
Catalans residing in Belgium headed to the Spanish Consulate on Sunday to cast their ballots in a regional parliamentary election intended to address a political crisis over a push for independence.
Although the election is set to take place on Thursday, Catalans residents elsewhere will be allowed to vote between December 17 and 19.
Brussels was drawn into the Catalan crisis when ousted Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont, facing arrest in Spain for organizing an illegal independence referendum, travelled to Belgium in October to lead his campaign for independence from there.
