Unity in Iraq and Syria requires more efforts on the part of both Syrian and Iraqi governments in order to secure the countries after the elimination of Daesh, Omar Nashabe told Press TV on Thursday.

It also requires a “sense of strong national identity” that would bring people together under one main objective that is to serve the interest of their nations, the journalist with the al-Akhbar newspaper said.

Nashabe also urged both Syria and Iraq to remove a “sense of sectarian tension” triggered by certain regional and international powers.

On Thursday, Iran’s military Chief of Staff General Mohammad Baqeri lauded the eradication of Daesh in Iraq and Syria, saying Iranian Armed Forces are fully ready to counter enemy plots and any attempts to create another similar terror outfit.
