The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region has postponed the presidential and parliamentary elections amid spiraling tensions with Baghdad. The commission says it’s now up to the regional parliament to set a new date for the vote which was initially slated for November first. This, as the fallout from the recent secession vote is worsening a political stalemate in the region.
