Hezbollah leader criticizes Riyadh for normalization of ties with Israel

      • Leader of Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah has strongly criticized Saudi Arabia for its decision to normalize ties with Israel. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the act will benefit the Zionists. Nasrallah said the move will pave the way for other Arab nations to make similar decisions.
      • The number of civilians killed in airstrikes by the so-called US-led coalition in northern Syria has risen to 28. London-based monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, has said seven children are among the dead. The air raids by the US-led coalition targeted the Daesh-held village of Ghandurah in Aleppo province on Thursday.
      • Russia says it will carefully study the UN suggestions for improving humanitarian operations in the Syrian city of Aleppo. Moscow and Syrian governments plan to open three corridors for the civilians who want to leave Aleppo and a fourth one for militants willing to lay down their arms.
      • The massive crackdown on suspected supporters of the recent abortive coup continues in Turkey. Turkish officials confirm that 60,000 civil servants have been dismissed from the military, police, schools, universities and other sectors. 130 media organizations have also been shut down. And 100 journalists have been detained this week alone.
      • Turkey’s president has rejected foreign criticism of the post-coup mass detentions in the country. Recep Tayip Erdogan said those who should be praising Turkey for defeating the coup are standing by the plotters. Turkish officials say the detainees have links to Fehullah Gullen who is accused of masterminding the coup.
      • Clashes have erupted between protesters and security forces as people rallied outside the United Nations office in Indian-controlled Kashmir. The demonstrators took to the streets despite a curfew in the region. The curfew has been imposed in the entire south Kashmir and the city of Srinagar.
      • A police officer has died from injuries sustained in a late-night shooting during a traffic stop in the US city of San Diego. Another officer who was seriously wounded in the incident has undergone surgery. One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
      • US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has reacted to his rival Hillary Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Trump slammed Clinton’s policy when she was secretary of state, saying she unleashed wars that led to destruction, terrorism and the creation of Daesh.
