US presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has acknowledged that he cannot win the Democratic Party’s nomination, while his supporters are preparing for his comments on “where we go from here” in New York on Thursday.

"It doesn't appear that I'm going to be the nominee," he said during an interview on Wednesday.

The Vermont senator has not yet suspended his campaign or endorsed his rival, Hillary Clinton, who has managed to gain the delegates needed for the nomination in the 2016 Democratic National Convention late July.

"If for whatever reason they don't want me to speak, then whatever. But I do think I'll speak at the convention," Sanders said.

According to his campaign, he will hold a press conference in New York on Thursday to announce his next move.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton (L) walks with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi after attending a meeting with the House Democratic Caucus on June 22, 2016 at the US Capitol in Washington, DC.

Meanwhile, he was urged by a top Democratic lawmaker to endorse the former secretary of state.

At a press conference on Capitol Hill, US House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi voiced hope that Sanders would support Clinton.

According to Pelsoi, sanders "knows what's at stake" in November. "Two words: Donald Trump," she said.

Democrats will gather at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia from July 25-28 to announce the party’s nominee.

Sanders has already said that stopping Trump, the GOP's presumed nominee, from winning the White House is a priority.
