Western media justify US-led coalition in Syria using Russia strikes footage

For the so-called US-led coalition in Syria the best way to justify its military operations seems to be plagiarizing footage of the achievements made by the Russian warplanes in their unabated campaign against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group and other terror organizations active in the war-torn Arab country.

According to a report published by RT on Tuesday, the state-owned France 2 television channel broadcast a report on February 2, slamming the Russian campaign in Syria and at the same time praising the achievements made by the US-led coalition there while airing footage of anti-terror airstrikes conducted by the Russian jets and passing them off as those of the collation’s operations.

“The planes of the US coalition have a hard time finding targets to destroy,” the reporter was saying, while images of the Russian airstrikes were shown. The reporter kept on talking about the difficulty of destroying terrorist training camps, headquarters, ammunition depots and oil facilities while the report was showing more videos of Russian anti-terror airstrikes.

This is by no means the first time Western media have made use of Russia's airstrikes in Syria to depict those of the US-led coalition.

On December 16 last year, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told journalists in Syria’s Latakia province about a recent program broadcast by the Euronews TV channel, in which “a representative of the United States Army Central Command” was commenting on achievements made by the US-led coalition while showing “the launch of Russian cruise missiles by Tu-160 strategic bombers.”

Also on November 19, another case of bombing plagiarism emerged as the American PBS NewsHour program broadcast a report about “the first time the US is attacking oil delivery trucks” belonging to Daesh in Syria, while showing black-and-white military footage released by the Russian Defense Ministry of its warplanes pounding an oil storage facility and a large convoy of oil trucks used by the terror group.

Since September 2014, the US along with some of its allies has been conducting air raids against what are said to be the Daesh terrorists inside Syria without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate. The raids in Syria are an extension of the US-led aerial campaign against purported Daesh positions in Iraq, which started in August 2014.

Moscow started conducting airstrikes against Daesh and other terrorist groups in Syria in September 2015 upon a request from the Syrian government. Since then, it has killed hundreds of Daesh terrorists and other foreign-backed militants and inflicted heavy material damage to them.
