Voting underway in 2016 Iowa caucuses

Elections have kicked off in the early-voting US state of Iowa as candidate anxiously await the result from the key state.

The Monday election will determine who will matter most among the 12 republican and three Democratic candidates.

The candidates rallied supporters in the Midwestern state before they show up at caucus sites in the 99 counties.

Voters had already gathered at the sites before the events start at at 7 pm Central time.

Republican and Democratic front-runners, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, have both expressed confidence they will appear victorious.

Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders have also made big gains during the last few weeks.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio could defy expectations by coming close to Cruz.

The voters’ meetings in state schools, churches and other venues of Iowa will kick off a state-by-state contest across the country.

Iowa is important for the winner since it could serve as a launchpad for them to take over for the rest of the states.
