Refugee crisis result of West wars in Middle East: Analyst

In this edition of The Debate, Press TV has talked to Jan Oberg, the founder of transnational.org, from Lund, Sweden, and political commentator Andre Walker, from London, to discuss anti-refugee sentiments in Europe.

Oberg believes that the Western countries are those who have made life impossible for people in the Middle East through their continuous wars and interventions and are now closing their borders to evade the self-made refugee crisis.

They would have adopted a different approach if these catastrophes had happened for Israelis instead of Muslims, he underscored.

However, Andre Walker believes that European countries unlike the majority of Muslim countries have received refugees with tolerance, although it is almost impossible for them to distinguish genuine civilians from terrorists.

He also defends the US and Britain’s invasions to the Middle East, describing them as reactions to terrorist attacks or efforts aimed at getting rid of tyrants.

"It was a binary thing. It was a very very simple concept. You kicked the terrorists in your country; they kicked terrorist attacks against us; and then your governments were removed by us rather than by you," Walker reiterated.
