US mainstream media show Clinton winner of debates

Hoenig says US main stream media often declare Clinton the winner of debates with her rivals.

Many of the US mainstream media outlets misleadingly show Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton as the winner of debates, says an activist.

“Much of the mainstream media supports Clinton for president, at least as the Democratic Party nominee. We see that in how they often declare her the winner of debates with her rivals when all polls at the time give the win to Sen. (Bernie) Sanders,” Myles Hoenig, a social justice activist, told Press TV on Friday.

Democratic frontrunner Clinton is competing against only Sanders for the Democratic Party's nomination. Only Sanders is considered at all competitive in the early primaries, even as he operates with far less money than the former secretary of state.

Hoenig also commented on the US State Department’s release of another batch of 5,500 pages of Hillary Clinton's personal emails from her time as secretary of state, raising the total pages released so far to over 40,000.

The State Department has been releasing Clinton's emails monthly since June to comply with a judge’s order that they be made public by the end of January 2016.

“With the latest news that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s release of emails by the State Department is going slower than expected or hoped for, the problem becomes more political than anything else right now,” Hoenig said.

“As Clinton’s unfavorable poll numbers continue to remain very high, the slow release does not help. A large percent of her Democratic voters believe that she is untrustworthy but would still likely vote for her in the General Election. The question of course would be how many would turn out for her,” he added.

He also said that “the substance of the emails being released to the public seem innocuous. She ‘looks cute’ in a pair of sunglasses. If there were to be something substantially harmful to national security that is part of the email cache one wonders how the press will cover it.”

“As it is now officially the election year, the focus on these emails will become sharper. If using a private server does shield her from congressional and FOIA requests, then the mood will become far more hostile as the year progresses towards November,” he concluded.
