Yemeni forces launch missile attacks on Saudi military bases

The Yemeni army, backed by Popular Committees loyal to the Houthi Ansarullah movement, has launched retaliatory missile attacks on military bases in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border city of Najran.

Yemen’s al-Masirah news channel reported on Wednesday that Yemeni forces targeted the Rajlah, Qana, and al-Hayz bases in Najran.

According to the report, Yemen’s army also hit a military base in the southwestern Saudi border region of Jizan with a Qaher 1 ballistic missile in retaliation for Riyadh’s incessant strikes against Yemen. No reports on the possible casualties and damage were immediately available.

In another development, dozens of al-Qaeda militants were killed in clashes with Yemeni troops in the Dhi Na’im district of the central province of Bayda.

Bahrain’s F-16 crashes in Jizan

Also on Wednesday, a Bahraini F-16 fighter jet taking part in Saudi Arabia’s invasion against Yemen, crashed near the border with Yemen due to what has been described as a "technical error," a Saudi military source said in a statement, which was published on the country’s official SPA news agency.

The statement added that the pilot of the plane has been located safely.

Meanwhile, Saudi bomber aircraft pounded a military base in Yemen’s central province of Ma’rib and another base in the port city of Mukha. The warplanes also bombarded various areas in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, and the provinces of Hajjah and Omran.

On Tuesday, seven Yemeni civilians lost their lives and a number of others were injured in Saudi airstrikes on Omran Province.

Yemen has been under Saudi military strikes on a daily basis since late March. The military campaign is supposedly meant to undermine the Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

More than 7,500 people have been killed and over 14,000 others injured since the strikes began. The Saudi war has also taken a heavy toll on the impoverished country’s facilities and infrastructure.
