Clinton won’t apologize to Trump for calling him Daesh 'best recruiter'
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will not back down and apologize to her Republican rival Donald Trump for calling him Daesh “best recruiter” after his derogatory comments on Muslims, her spokesman says.
During a Democratic debate on Saturday, Clinton said Trump's statement about banning Muslims from entering the US is helping ISIL’s recruitment strategy, noting that the Takfiris "are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radicals."
"Hell no, Hillary Clinton will not be apologizing to Donald Trump for correctly pointing out how his hateful rhetoric only helps ISIL recruit more terrorists," Brian Fallon, her campaign spokesman, said in a statement on Monday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, Trump had demanded an apology from the former US secretary of state for her accusation.
"I will demand an apology from Hillary, she should apologize. She lies about emails, she lies about Whitewater, she lies about everything. She will be a disaster as President of the United States." Trump said.
This is while Trump reacted to Clinton's remarks at the debate “disgusting.”
In a rare incident, the exchange even prompted Jeb Bush to side with his party rival Trump, despite having been grilled by the billionaire on live TV several times.
“Hillary Clinton suggesting that Donald Trump is being used in an ISIL recruiting video, man, talk about chutzpah,” Bush said Monday on a radio show.
The defense on Bush’s part was made despite him being harshly critical of Trump during the Republican presidential race, calling him the “chaos candidate” and saying he cannot “insult his way to the presidency.”
Trump's so-called proposal for a "complete" ban on Muslims entry into US, drew criticism from Muslim leaders around the world as well as officials in the US government, including GOP members.
