UN official says Boko Haram terrorist group expanding

1. Russia has armed its SU34 bomber jets, which are targeting Daesh positions in Syria, with air-to-air missiles for the first time. The missiles can hit air targets at a distance of up to 60 kilometers. This comes after Turkey downed a Russian jet operating in Syria on November 24.

2. Iran’s vice president says the outcome of Paris climate summit should be inclusive and ensure that all nations comply with their commitments. Speaking at the World Climate Change Conference in France, Masoumeh Ebtekar mentioned the policies proposed by Iran’s Leader, calling them a forward-looking manifesto to protect the Earth.

3. A dangerous smog continues to engulf Beijing and much of northern China. The level of hazardous airborne particles has reached nearly 40 times the World Health Organization’s safe limits. China has ordered thousands of factories to shut and advised citizens to stay indoors.

4. At least 30 people have been killed in clashes between the army and Ugandan rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Clashes broke out in the eastern town of Eringeti when the rebels attacked a military headquarters. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned the violence.

5. A United Nations aid official in Cameroon has warned that Boko Haram terrorist group is expanding. Najat Rochdi said the Takfiris try to demonstrate their power by almost daily attacks on residential areas in Nigeria as well as neighboring Chad, Niger, and Cameroon, leaving scores of people dead.

6. An Israeli court has suspended the conviction of a key suspect in the murder of a Palestinian teenager back in 2014. His conviction was suspended on the grounds of his mental health. Yosef Ben David had earlier admitted to kidnapping, assaulting, and burning alive of Muhammad Abu Khdeir.

7. British Prime Minister David Cameron has agreed to hold a parliamentary debate on Wednesday over the country’s plan to launch airstrikes in Syria. The decision comes after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn urged the government not to rush to a war, demanding a parliamentary debate on the matter.

8. At least four Yemenis have been killed in fresh Saudi airstrikes on a residential area in Ibb province. Saudi Arabia’s relentless attacks have also left a child dead in Ta'izz province. More than 7,200 people have been killed in Saudi Arabia's war on Yemen since March 26.
