Trump’s remarks on Veterans Affairs not realistic: Pundit

As long as the US is a war-driven and orientated society, there is going to be ineptitude, corruption and fraud in the country, Short said.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s remarks about problems in the Department of Veterans Affairs do not reflect realities, says a political commentator.

Randy Short made the comments in an interview with Press TV on Sunday when asked about remarks by Trump who said the VA is mismanaged and not efficient.

“We're going to replace them with more effective ones to get our veterans working, which is what they want to do,” Trump told a crowd of supporters in front of the U.S.S. Wisconsin in Norfolk, Va.

“We're going to transform the VA to meet the needs of the current veterans. Exposing and addressing the VA's inefficiencies and shortcomings will be rewarded, not punished. We're going to find out why its' going bad and we're going to fix it."

Short said Trump’s vow “may be noble and notable and I certainly hope that something like that would happen,” but added that “the root problem isn’t just the corruption, inefficiency, and the lack of concern for men and women who served in America’s foreign wars and aggression abroad, there should not be so much warfare in the first place.”

“So in reality, as long as America is a war-driven and orientated society, you’re going to have ineptitude, corruption and fraud,” he stated.

He said, “The ultimate fraud is sending men and women who could be building the infrastructure and doing something that the United States actually needs, you’re sending abroad to kill.”

“You teach them to kill, which means to make them sort of psychologically off, because it takes something to make a person kill, you send them into places where they’re killing women and children.”

“There are tens of not hundreds of thousands of American men from the Vietnam war who are dying from diabetes and other things because they were exposed to agent orange and dioxin and other things that were being used to mass kill people in South East Asia, particularly Vietnam,” he explained.

“So as long as America wants to wage war and kill black, brown, yellow people, Muslims and steal their natural resources you have huge numbers of the American men and women, service men, who have a government that only wants your when your body is viable to be used as an instrument of war against people that are not fighting the United States,” Short added.

“The root issue is America needs to get out of the imperial war-without-end business that would solve the problems of the VA,” he concluded.
