US air raids will not downgrade Daesh: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Jim W. Dean, managing editor of the Veterans Today from Atlanta, to get his take on a revelation by German intelligence agency over the use of chemical weapons by Daesh in northern Iraq.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Considering the findings, it is a pressing matter of course, but why doesn't the west exhaust more resources towards finding a strategy to put this group out of commission?

Dean: Well, that’s the 64,000 dollar question. You have Daesh that’s doesn’t have any airports, they don’t really have any aircraft guns, they don’t have 154 Hawkses, they don’t have armored divisions. So, how are they getting resupplied and they have supply lines over open desert month after month after month. Sure, they got some supplies that were in the major areas that they seized, but they seem to have no problem getting more arms, no problem getting more supplies in, despite the satellites, the drones.

All of the US coalition air force, they’re attacking pinpoint targets, they degraded their supply lines somewhat, but they don’t seem, they have degraded them enough to be able to weaken them enough to attack on Mosul. So, we have the evidence here that they’re being left on field with some strength to draw this thing out. In other word, someone has decided we want this to keep going on and on and on, because we have some benefits from it. And the rest of people who have been interested in that would be sure.

Press TV: German intelligence can actively use that energy to probe deeper to see how this group is financing running their organization, and come up with solutions to cut that off. Your thoughts.

Dean: You’re right. It is a window addressing. The West has studied a lot of stories that Daesh is bad, we’re doing a good thing, we’re fighting them. But they’re now really doing anything strategic. And Of course as Mr. Putin has been so happy to tell us the main people who’ve really been fighting the terrorists in the region, are Syria. The Iraqis are doing a better job, because they know how to do combined operations more, but they’re very upset that the US coalition is not giving them much, much more air support, which is really called for here. So, we did add to it someone wants this to continue. They don’t want it to be wrapped up.
