Two men have been arrested in the US state of Maryland over attempts to fly drugs and pornography into a prison.
"You couldn't make this stuff up," Maryland's Secretary of Public Safety Stephen Moyer said on Monday.
The two were arrested on a road near the Western Correctional Institution, according to a statement by the Maryland Department of Public Safety.
A remote-control quadracopter was found in the men’s car along with a handgun as they were planning to fly synthetic marijuana and bootleg pornographic DVDs
The inmate accused of taking part in the foiled attempt is also facing charges.
The move marked the first time someone tried to use a drone to fly over a prison wall in Maryland.
A drone was used in July 2014 to carry marijuana, tobacco, and cell phones into a maximum security jail in the state of South Carolina, where it crashed.
