Badminton: China's Chen Long wins men's singles title

China’s Chen Long has defeated world No. 1 badminton player Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia to win one of the 30 gold medals on offer on the penultimate day of the Rio Olympics.

The 27 year old won the men’s singles final on Saturday with a scoreline of 21-18, 21-18. It was the Malaysian’s 3rd straight loss in the badminton final at the Olympics.

Lee had also settled for silver in London and Beijing after being defeated by China’s Lin Dan. Meanwhile, Denmark's Viktor Axelsen won the bronze medal.
