French President Emmanuel Macron has urged a swift agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that the current opportunity for de-escalation must be seized immediately.
Macron made the remarks on Sunday in a post on X after holding telephonic talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
“It is essential that an agreement between the United States and Iran be reached quickly. This opportunity must be seized now,” Macron wrote that he told all the regional leaders.
“The priority must be the conclusion of a ceasefire and the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, without any conditions and in accordance with international law.”

À tous, je porte le même message : il est essentiel qu’un accord…
He added that once the ceasefire and reopening of the vital waterway are achieved, discussions should proceed toward a “comprehensive and robust agreement” covering other key issues.
The French president also expressed Paris’s readiness to contribute actively, including through an independent multinational maritime mission established with the United Kingdom to resume safe shipping traffic, providing expertise in nuclear negotiations, and helping establish a regional security framework.
On the situation in Lebanon, Macron stressed that genuine regional stability must begin there, declaring, “It is urgent that the weapons fall silent, all of them, and for good. Nothing justifies the major escalation currently underway in southern Lebanon.”
He reaffirmed France’s support for Lebanese authorities in restoring state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Macron’s statements reflect a growing international acknowledgment of the failure of Washington’s aggressive policies toward Iran.
Iran has long maintained that any agreement must respect its inalienable rights, including its peaceful nuclear program and legitimate defensive capabilities, under the framework of international law.
Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that continued provocations and blind support for the Zionist regime only deepen regional instability.
The escalation of Israeli aggression in southern Lebanon is widely seen in the region as the direct result of repeated Zionist aggressions against Lebanese territory and the resistance defending it.
