A Bahraini opposition group says the kingdom’s population strongly opposes the presence of US military installations on their soil, viewing them as a direct threat to national security.
According to February 14 Youth Coalition, this widespread opposition helps explain popular sympathy in Bahrain for Iran’s recent retaliatory strikes amid the US-Israeli military campaign against the Islamic Republic.
In a statement released late Wednesday, the group condemned recent anti-Iran remarks by Bahraini Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifah, arguing that the Manama regime, entirely dependent on foreign, arrogant powers, is doomed to collapse.
The minister had accused Iran of interfering in Bahrain’s affairs, citing alleged attempts to destabilize the kingdom since Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
“While not supporting an escalation of tensions or a military offensive against Iran, the Bahraini people consider the deployment of foreign military forces in West Asia a significant threat to their own security,” the coalition said.

The group also rejected claims that Bahrainis celebrated Iranian missile and drone operations on their own homeland. Instead, it said, the people supported those strikes only because they targeted US military assets that endanger the nation and have turned Bahrain into a potential target.
The coalition, named after the date of Bahrain’s 2011 uprising, stressed that well before the US-Israeli onslaught against Iran began on February 28, Bahrainis from all walks of life had already declared their firm opposition to normalizing ties with Israel, hosting US military installations, and joining any military alliance.
The group accused the interior minister of trying to distort the teachings of Shia Islam at the behest of Washington and Tel Aviv, while doing an injustice to the Bahraini people. “This is a fruitless attempt,” the statement read, “as Islam pivots around fighting injustice, speaking out against aggression, and struggling against occupation.”
The February 14 Youth Coalition further stated that the Al Khalifah regime has long relied on forced labor, repression, home demolitions, and forced displacement to subdue the nation, usurp land, and plunder wealth.
“The interior minister must realize that the people deeply love their homeland,” the coalition said.
“They are among the most nationalist and loyal in the world and have not abandoned their country despite decades of atrocities and genocide by the Manama regime.”
The statement added that the more Bahrainis love their homeland, the more detached from reality the ruling dynasty becomes. The recent rise in repressive measures, including abductions, forced exile, and displacement, only reflects the regime’s fury over this fact.
