Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has praised Lebanon's "exemplary resistance" against Israeli attacks and reaffirmed Tehran's firm support for Lebanon.

In a telephone call on Thursday, Araghchi told Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri that halting Israeli aggression against Lebanon is part of the ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States.

Araghchi and Berri discussed developments in Lebanon and the region, the ongoing Islamabad-mediated negotiations, and issues of mutual concern.

The two officials strongly condemned aggressive actions by Israel against regional countries, including Lebanon, and stressed the need for international action to end brutal military aggression in southern Lebanon that have killed and wounded thousands, destroyed residential areas and infrastructure, and displaced residents.

"This is part of the Iran-US ceasefire understanding and will remain a priority for the Islamic Republic of Iran in any future process," Araghchi said of the need to halt Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

Berri pointed to repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon and the "epic resistance" of the Lebanese people against Israeli military aggression. He stressed the need to increase international pressure and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

Lebanon's parliament speaker also thanked Iran for its efforts in support of Lebanon's positions.

The two sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination.

The remarks come as Israel has continued its strikes across Lebanon despite the truce.

Before the truce, Israel launched an aggression on March 2 that has killed at least 2,509 people and wounded 7,755 others, while displacing more than 1.6 million.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said that the Israeli military was continuing to carry out strikes inside Lebanon despite the truce.

Hezbollah has strongly condemned Netanyahu for accusing the resistance movement of undermining the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, vowing to continue its “legitimate response” to the Israeli regime’s continuous violations of the truce.

Hezbollah noted that Israeli violations have already exceeded 500 on land, at sea, and in the air, including shelling, demolitions, and the destruction of homes.
