Germany, Italy block EU action on Israel, halting Spain’s proposal

The initial push by several European countries to act against Israel has quickly lost momentum.

Inside the European Union, Germany and Italy have taken the lead in blocking Spain’s proposal to suspend the EU–Israel association agreement, exposing deep divisions and raising questions over the bloc’s commitment to human rights.
