Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri says the Arab nation will not allow even one iota of the country’s territory to be usurped by the occupying Israeli regime.

“There is nothing called the yellow line, red line, green line or any other line. We do not recognize any demarcation, and consider such a move as totally unacceptable,” Berri said in an interview with the Beirut-based al-Joumhouria daily newspaper published on Tuesday.

His remarks came in reaction to Israel’s imposition of the so-called “Yellow Line” scheme across the southern part of Lebanon.

Under the plot, the Israeli military remains active within the areas to execute the demolition of alleged positions of Hezbollah resistance fighters.

Berri asserted that the Israeli regime must withdraw its occupation forces from southern Lebanon.

“In case Israel insists on its occupation either through the so-called Yellow Line or military camps, it must embrace daily attacks by the Resistance (Hezbollah).”

The senior lawmaker emphasized that not one iota of Lebanon’s southern territory must be taken away from the rest of the country.

“We did not initiate the war, and did not put up resistance uselessly. They (Israelis) were the party who imposed struggle upon us with their occupation and acts of aggression. They forced us to resort to armed struggle in order to liberate our homeland and safeguard our national sovereignty. Nothing has changed on the ground. We will be standing ground until occupation ends, and all enemy forces are expelled from our lands,” Berri added.

Since indirect negotiations between Iranian and US delegations in Islamabad on an end to the US-Israeli aggression on Iran, Tehran has kept pushing for a ceasefire in Lebanon as a major condition for any progress in the talks and the start of the second round of negotiations.

This finally forced the US and the Israeli regime to announce a ceasefire, which began early on Friday.
