Trump’s repeated claims of defeating Iran ‘hilarious’: Parliament Speaker

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad  Bagher Qalibaf

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad  Bagher Qalibaf has ridiculed US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of defeating Iran in the joint aggression with Israel against the country.

“He has claimed he ‘defeated’ us 9 times in the last two weeks. Hilarious!” Qalibaf wrote in a post on his X account on Sunday.

The Iranian parliamentarian, a former high-ranking military commander, has repeatedly posted online to debunk the unfounded claims of US and Israeli officials since the start of the aggression on Iran on 28 February.

In another X post on Sunday, he said US authorities, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, whom he called a “Tele‑General” for his repeated appearances on TV shows and news briefings, are merely sacrificing American soldiers to keep the Israeli regime afloat.

Qalibaf also highlighted Iran’s successful targeting of key US military assets in regional countries as retaliation, warning that any plan to send more troops to fight Iran in the Persian Gulf would be like throwing “infantry into a meat grinder.”

“They are sending poor boys to fix what generals broke. Go die for Israel,” he said.

The comments come amid rising pressure on the US government to end its costly, unprovoked aggression on Iran, as the war’s economic toll and casualties continue to climb.

Experts and opposition figures in the United States have repeatedly warned that Trump lacks a clear strategy to end the war, cautioning that continued confrontation could cost the US government and taxpayers dearly.

Iran has carried out extensive retaliatory attacks on US assets in the region and on locations in the Israeli‑occupied territories since the very first day of the US–Israeli aggression.

The country has also managed to take full control of transit through the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, causing international energy and commodity prices to rise to levels not seen in years.
