In a warning notice to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Iran says the US-Israeli war of aggression against the country has put the food shipping routes in jeopardy not only for Iran but for 300 million people living in West Asia and Eurasia.
Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh sounded the alert in a letter to FAO’s Director-General Qu Dongyu on Thursday, warning that American and Israeli invaders attempt to disrupt the process of production and supplying as well as the distribution network of agricultural produce.
“This network provides food security for some 90,000,000 Iranians and meets part of the needs of around 300,000,000 citizens of West Asian and Eurasian countries, which are Iran’s economic and trade partners,” Ghezeljeh further told the head of the specialized agency of the United Nations.
The current waves of aggression and destruction against roads as well as maritime and aerial transportation routes have directly targeted international agreements and treaties that “prohibit food sanctions and threats” and consequently, targeted the livelihood of people and endangered nutrition and health of millions of families, the Iranian minister warned.
Ghezeljeh also called on Qu to condemn the ongoing military aggression against the Islamic Republic and remind the perpetrators of the dangerous consequences of their war.
The Iranian minister also expressed his deep regret for the silence of international institutions and organizations and their double standards in relation to the full-scale US-Israeli war.
🔺 If the slightest threat is made against our ports, no port or dock in the Persian Gulf will be safe; all of them and all economic centers in the region will be legitimate targets for us, and we will carry out operations heavier than before.

The warning came just a day after the US military threatened to attack Iran's civilian port facilities, claiming that they are being used by military forces.
In response, Iran has strongly rejected the claim, warning that all ports and economic centers in Persian Gulf littoral states will be considered legitimate targets for Iran if the US attacks Iranian ports as part of the ongoing joint aggression with Israel against the country.
