Iran slams airport attacks as ‘another wicked chapter’ in US-Israel terror campaign

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei

Iran has condemned as “cowardly” the attack on civilian airports and the targeting of a passenger aircraft by the United States and Israel, calling it another wicked chapter in “a campaign of terror and atrocity” against Iranians.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei made the remarks in a post on X on Saturday, where he shared a message from the page of Iran Air on the social media platform.

In his post, Baghaei wrote, “The cowardly attacks on civilian airports and the deliberate targeting of an Iran Air passenger plane that's Bushehr is yet another wicked chapter in the aggressors' campaign of terror & atrocity against Iranians.”

He added that Iran is determined to respond decisively.

Earlier, Iran Air said in a message on its X account, “No, no, no — nuclear weapons are not produced in schools, hospitals, museums, football stadiums, commercial airplanes… Bushehr Airport, Mehrabad International Airport, or anywhere in Iran.”

The US and Israel started a fresh round of aerial aggression on Iran on February 28, some eight months after they carried out unprovoked attacks on the country. The attacks led to the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and more than 1,200 people, including women and children, as well as military commanders.

Iran began to swiftly retaliate against the strikes by launching barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on US bases in regional countries.
