Iran foiling enemy plots
The Iranian chief army commander says the US and Israel made miscalculations about Iran during the 12-Day war, stressing that the country’s missile and defense capabilities have since improved. Major General Amir Hatami said adversaries openly sought to destroy Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities and target military leadership during the war last June. The Iranian army’s top commander dismissed as a lie enemy claim that plans for the attack were only 18 years in the making. He said such plans date back to the early days of the Islamic Revolution nearly 50 years ago when defense and military sanctions were slapped on Iran. Major general Hatami emphasized that the Islamic Republic emerged from the 12-Day War with its capabilities intact.
Iran, China, Russia joint drills
Iran, China, and Russia are set to hold a joint naval exercise in the northern Indian Ocean. The eighth iteration of the ‘Maritime Security Belt’ exercise will be held in February. The drills will involve naval units from Iran's Army, its Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, as well as the Chinese and Russian navies. The exercise series was initiated by the Iranian Army Navy in 2019 and has become a regular feature of military diplomacy among the three countries. This upcoming joint drill comes amid increasing US military buildup in the region and its threats against Iran.
US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
Israeli forces have been escalating attacks across the Gaza Strip since dawn, killing at least 31 Palestinians including 6 children. That despite a ceasefire agreed last October. The deadliest strike hit a displacement tent in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Seven members of a single family, which included five children, a woman, and an elderly man, were killed. In another attack, Israeli warplanes targeted the Sheikh Radwan Police Station in the northern Gaza City, resulting in a massacre that left at least 13 people dead, including police officers and detainees. Israeli warplanes also targeted the eastern areas of the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. The death toll since the beginning of the US-Israeli genocidal war in 2023 is approaching 71,800.
